Why #Innclusive Is the Hottest Startup on the Block Right Now.

May 2, 2017

Twitter has sparked revolutions, social movements, and in the summer of 2016, it helped launch a business. Innclusive (formerly Noirbnb), is one of a handful of #airbnb alternatives born out of #Airbnbwhileblack hashtag during the summer of 2016. In less than a year Innclusive has been able to amass a social following of more than 20,000 people across Facebook and Instagram and grow their platform to roughly 70,000 users. Innclusive is not your average startup. Founded by serial entrepreneur, Rohan Gilkes and Zakiyyah Myers, the young company has carved out a voice that is uniquely their own in a market where the barriers to entry grow more significant each day.

I've been a fan of Innclusive from the start, cheering them on quietly from the sidelines with the occasional Facebook comment or status share here and there. My fandom is fueled by two factors - the complete transparency and brutal honesty of cofounder, Rohan Gilkes; and the brands ability to tell their story and connect with audiences through snackable and shareable CONTENT. As a seasoned advertising professional, I know that smart content builds strong brands and smart content is what Innclusive does well.

There is a lot that can be learned from the rise of Innclusive and their founders are on a mission to share their knowledge with all who are willing to listen.

Their latest grand gesture illustrates their commitment to content and transparency. On April 30, CEO Rohan Gilkes and his long time business partner, and Innclusive's Chief Product Officer, Kevin Pereira, announced the launch of the Innclusive podcast - a down and dirty account of what it takes to run and grow a business.

Now you may be thinking, "It's just a podcast. Why hype it up?" Well, for two reasons. 1) The advice is real and tangible and 2) transparency is a beautiful thing. Entrepreneurship is hard. A lot can be learned from the trials of others. At the end of the day, expounding upon one's setbacks is more important than celebrating the victories.
